University of Maryland takes responsibility for McNair’s death

Jordan McNair was a football player who played the position of offensive lineman for the University of Maryland. He died on June 13th, 2018 after being hospitalized for a couple of weeks.

According to the family’s attorney, the cause of death was heatstroke. However, this event may have been prevented if the university would have followed the proper protocols when Jordan fell on the field that day. Damon Evans, Maryland’s athletic director said in a statement last month: “mistakes were made” - referring to how the situation was handled.

The head coach who handled the situation at the time of McNair’s collapse continues on administrative leave.
