Flu season claims first child death in Florida

With the flu season just upon us, health officials are reminding everyone the importance of a flu vaccine. Recently, the sate of Florida reported the death of the first child who has died of influenza on October 6th. The strain that killed the kid was influenza B - a less common and usually less severe than influenza A. Unfortunately, the deceased child had not been vaccinated for the flu.

Health authorities recommend that everybody 6 months of age and older should get a vaccine to lessen the severity of the flu, should it infect you. If it’s the first flu vaccine your child has ever had, then it will be necessary to administer two inoculations, so make sure you plan them accordingly at your local health clinic before the peak of the flu season.
