Outbreak in New Jersey facility kills 6 children


An outbreak at the Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation facility in Haskell, New Jersey has killed six children and twelve remain ill with the pathogen caused by the outbreak. The disease that has claimed these children’s lives was identified as an infection caused by adenovirus type 7.

This pathogen can cause serious harm to people who have a weak and/or fragile immune system, individuals with current respiratory or cardiac diseases.

This is a developing story and the New Jersey Health Department is conducting a full investigation to find out how this outbreak took place.
