Raise Your Head My Brothers, For You Are All Kings

Photo: Commons Zero

You were born into your skin but don't you dare be dismayed.

That men breed hate because they fear your powerful displays.

Shackled and imprisoned, driven into servitude.

Slain and slandered, historically undeniable truths.

Raise your head my brothers, for you are all Kings.

Though the night has brought us much trouble, in the morning we all will sing.

In the world they mock you, in the media, they sneer.

Insecure in their own worth they hurdle at you spears. Spears of framing trouble by decree.

Spears that cut the soul.

Producing a society broken and in pieces that WE must fix to be whole.

Raise your head my brothers, for you are all Kings.

Though the night has brought us much trouble, in the morning we all will sing.

Never become the actions that you hate and never submit to defeat.

Never stop dreaming and practicing together because we are stronger as a team.

Thought the obstacles are far from over and at times you may get weary.

Take courage in the truth of knowing today they will be cheering.

Raise your head my brothers, for you are all Kings.

Though the night has brought us much trouble, in the morning we all will sing.
