San Diego man dies from a motorized scooter into a tree

SAN DIEGO (LEGEND) - A 53-year-old man died Friday after crashing his motorized scooter into a tree on Wednesday.

According to Sgt. Victoria Housman the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident and sustained serious head injuries from the accident and had to be transported to the hospital.

The man was drinking prior to the incident, but authorities say they don't know if that contributed to the accident.

Authorities have yet to contact the man's family and are withholding his name until then.
