Golden State Killer is a former Police Officer who just plead guilty to killing 13 people


Joseph DeAngelo, 74, also known as the Golden State Killer, has admitted to killing 13 people but will not face the death penalty after striking a deal the United States prosecution.


At the time of the crimes, DeAngelo worked as a California Police officer through the 1970s and '80s but was not arrested until 2018 when DNA evidence linked him to multiple crimes, according to BBC.


The report added that investigators had to create a family tree that dated back to the 1800s to identify him as a suspect and after following DeAngelo and securing a piece of DNA evidence, they were able to link to a string of crimes.


Crimes that secured him the nicknames Diamond Knot Killer, Original Night Stalker, and East Area Rapist.

DeAngelo is expected to be sentenced to life in prison in August.
