North Korea warns US to prepare for 'Christmas gift'

Picture released by North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Wednesday shows North Korean leader Kim Jong Un posing as he visits Mount Paektu.

North Korea promised to send a "Christmas gift" to the United States, based on the outcome of ongoing talks between Washington and Pyongyang.

In 2017, North Korea also attributed to its first test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on the Fourth of July as a "gift" for the US.

Experts interpret the recent comment as a sign that North Korea could resume long-distance missile tests should talks with the US go south.
